About

Welcome to my personal portfolio.
In 2010, I completed my Master of Visual Communication (graphic design) studying at the University of Tasmania.
My focus was on the misuse of information in Pharmaceutical advertising, ethics in design and the role of visual communication in consumer education.

I love making objects for people to pick up and feel a connection to and I take a lot of pride in my professional practice. I have learned the difference between a good and bad layout; what good typesetting achieves and the value of trying to create something that goes beyond the norm, not just in how something is presented but in what is being presented. I always try to improve my abilities as a professional designer, to listen to and understand the client and not make the same mistake twice.

As well as working as a freelance designer, I am also a qualified ski instructor. This has allowed me the opportunity to travel around the world, living and exploring North America, Europe and Japan. My travels have also helped me to explore a series of personal projects and work for non-profits. One of my personal goals is to never stop being creative — to design, film, edit and write wherever possible, drawing on inspiration from my ever-changing surroundings.

I also enjoy working as an educator. My passion is in creating works that inform and educate the public not just about the topic at hand, but about the value of design and communication as a whole. I also enjoy trying to educate other designers about the value of their work, how to achieve better results and to feel a passion and connection to their own work.

This portfolio shows work completed during my studies and as a freelance designer.
